Modern Phoenix Week 2019 + Tour of Ralph Haver Homes
The Flowplex
Neighborhood: Pueblo BonitaArchitect: Ralph Haver AIA
Remodel: Matt McCurley
Year: 1964
This duplex is unusual in that instead of a shared pool area, it has its own private oasis, which guests are drawn toward as they gravitate toward the sliding rear window in the kitchen. The upper cabinets of the trademark horseshoe-shaped kitchen have been removed, and the lower cabinets have been adapted with a deeper bar area that is friendly for conversation and charging devices. You can see the shape of the old uppers in the kitchen soffit that remains. The guest bathroom vanity is original, but skylights have been added to both bathrooms. The vertical slot window is another Haver firm trademark. The exterior features Arizona fire brick and trim freshly painted with Dunn Edwards 2018 color of the year, Green Hour.
