The Deaktor Residence | 1967
Architect: UnknownBuilder: Allied Construction
Remodel: Coming in 2016
Completion: 80% time capsule condition
Style: Contemporary Modern Mediterranean
Allied Construction Company offered several model homes for this subdivision near the Biltmore, but the Deaktor family had some special requests for both the floorplan and the facade to be more modern than its neighbors. Recently purchased in time capsule condition, the homeowners have yet to change anything, so we thought you should see it! Terrazzo floors, an unusual interior water feature, native stone fireplace, flocked wallpaper, original fixtures, and massive caliche rock sculpture (possibly excavated from the nearby wash) are just marvelous. The oversized and dramatic amber lanterns lead us to believe this home may be Ralph Haver’s work, possibly with designer Jim Salter at the stylistic helm.
