Wosco Building aka the 12th Street Office Building

Many have wondered why Al Beadle chose to create diagonal windows on this two-story bermed office building, and why he never created anything like it again.
According to daughter Gerri Beadle, he realized that he'd never get the city to bury the heavy-duty power lines along 12th Street in central Phoenix. The guylines anchoring the huge power pole dictated the aesthetic. Rather than fighting it, he used the angle for inspiration. 
The iconic red steel sculpture design is by Beadle, executed by his friend and sculptor Gary Slater. When Beadle retired, he devoted much time to the development of large scale sculpture.
The works can be ordered through the estate of his family.
A ring of concrete and steel piloti support the steel decking arranged on a modular grid.
The pivot gate is rotated to a right angle during the day and locked at 45º at night.

Deep gracious concrete stairs and frequent landings give the visitor many good reasons to pause and enjoy the canopy.
